A Gigabit Challenge
In today’s data-driven world, reliable and high-speed connectivity is paramount to operational success. The Wayne County Airport Authority (WCAA) at Willow Run Airport (YIP, and sister airport to DTW) was confrontedwith a formidable challenge: ensuring ample bandwidth on demand and low latency for one of its remote facilities.
This facility required a robust connection to support numerous critical applications, such as access control, video monitoring, and various aviation applications.
As Joel Storchan, Deputy Director Infrastructure Operations, Technology Services Wayne County Airport Authority, remarked: “We have many critical applications outside of the traditional voice and data needs with Enterprise that require bulletproof bandwidth and performance.”
Yet the conventional solution – a fiber installation – would have been both costly and time-consuming. The WCAA needed an innovative, cost-effective solution that could deliver the required performance without a lengthy installation process.
