Introducing the New 10Gbps EtherHaul™ 8010FX
The new EtherHaul™ 8010FX (EH-8010FX) is with 10 Gigabits per second (Gbps) full duplex capacity, and operating over the interference free 70/80GHz E-band spectrum, the new EtherHaul™ 8010FX provides a reliable fiber extension solution where fiber exists, and greenfield Gigabit connectivity where there may be no fiber at all.
Watch this interactive webinar and you’ll find out everything you need to know about the new EtherHaul™ 8010FX.
SmartHaul™ WiNDE – Q&A:
Our goal with EH-8010FX is to provide the best fiber extension or replacement, keeping our solution simple to deploy and operate. The EH-8010FX will operate out of the box as a transparent bridge, similar to the EH-5500FD. However, the EH-8010FX does have switching capabilities, which can be configured to meet many management and networking configurations.
The capacity of the EH-2500FX can scale up to 2Gbps. There was no de-facto standard for the 2Gbps over copper when we rolled out the EH-2500FX, and thus we built two 1GbE ports. Then we went to 4 ports to offer a choice between copper or fiber connectivity. EH-8010FX design is simpler as there are accepted standards for 10GbE over fiber and copper, allowing us to build one port for each and deliver the complete capacity. |
As the EH-8010FX interfaces with existing antennas, mounting kits and power supply, the transitions are going to be simple indeed. Moreover, with the unique option to utilize even existing cabling to the radio, the migration is very easy.
We have announced a 0% financing promotion a few days ago We’ll continue to listen to our partners for their other needs in terms of financing or trade-in.
EH-8010FX supports the existing Siklu antennas:
– 43dBi, 1ft, part EH-ANT-1ft-B (also EH-ANT-1ft),
– 50dBi, 2ft, part EH-ANT-2ft-B (also EH-ANT-2ft-SET or EH-ANT-2ft-A).
We do not have a 3ft antenna solution currently. However, we are always listening to our partners to understand better what your problems are. Thanks for the input.
No, the rain fade does not affect the reliability of the radio. In addition, the performance of the radio is not affected by rain. However, the availability of the link is impacted by rain. One can calculate the predicted link availability for a target location using Siklu by Ceragon Link Budget Calculator at lbc.siklu.com.
WiNDE currently supports only Siklu by Ceragon radios.
The maximum distance will vary with the expected availability of the link, the antenna and the rain zone. Here are some typical ranges, with 2ft antenna and targeting 99.95% availability:
– Chicago, IL: 2mi. (3.2Km)
– San Francisco, CA: 2.3mi. (3.7Km)
– Phoenix, AZ: 2.5mi. (4Km)
Both ports, fiber and copper, are enabled by default. If cables are also connected to both, the radio will switch the traffic to/from the copper port (RJ-45). This configuration allows powering the radio with PoE on ETH1, traffic via fiber on EHT2 and local management when connecting to the RJ-45 port, without disconnecting any other cable. The user can change these default parameters to suit other rules of the organization. |
There is no need to purchase any accessory to run 10Gbps over copper. The EH-8010FX combo port features an RJ-45 connector, and complies with 802.3an 10GBaseT, allowing to deliver 10Gbps up to 100m of CAT6a or better (shorter ranges are achieved with lower grade copper).
The typical latency of the EH-8010FX link is < 10µsec (10 micro-seconds).
One can connect two power sources to the EH-8010FX, nominal 48VDC via the power connector, or POE via ETH1. Some organizations prefer POE, others prefer DC power, and this arrangement allows maximum of flexibility in the deployment of the radio.
It is also possible to connect the 2 ports simultaneously, when the site requires backup power. The radio will consume up to 50W on the port with the highest potential. If the power disappears from this chosen port, the radio will start drawing power from the other source autonomously.
The SW architecture and the image are completely new, and will not run on other EtherHaul™ radios. However, we have retained the look-and-feel of the graphical interface (GUI) and command line interface (CLI), to allow users familiar with EtherHaul™ radios to continue operating this newer model with the same ease.
